Bamboo is the most environmentally safe and friendly product worldwide that is used in either construction or furniture making. It is said this grass has a stronger tensile strength than steel of a similar size. For this reason it is used in many different industries and for many different functions. Its natural beauty and workability makes it an ideal medium for furniture. It is a naturally growing plant in Thailand being part of the grass family that grows in abundance in the jungles of Phetchaboon. All our bamboo is harvested by hand and carried out of the jungles by hand over mountains and through river at about 3 years of age. By leaving the roots, it is naturally self replenishing, so there is an ever lasting supply. The mountainous terrain has preserved these jungles and Phetchaboon Bamboo is careful to respect and preserve them for future generations. Where possible, we use bamboo dowels or pins to keep the furniture together instead of metal screws etc. Phetchaboon Bamboo craftsmen work it and style it into fine furniture that, if looked after, will give many years of trouble free use whilst providing a functional and yet beautifully aesthetic piece.It is usually possible to make bespoke furniture to your design.
